GLRE delivers rope access services across Birmingham & the West Midlands, covering glazing repair, cladding, building envelope works, & more. Free survey available.

GLRE provides rope access Birmingham services to commercial buildings across the city and the West Midlands: high-level glazing repair and replacement, cladding and building envelope work, mastic and sealant repair, inspection and emergency make-safe. Work is carried out by IRATA-qualified technicians through the rope access and industrial abseiling service, which removes the need for scaffolding on most commercial buildings.
Both reactive and planned work is covered, from an emergency make-safe call to a multi-year envelope maintenance programme.
Birmingham’s commercial stock is among the most varied in the UK. The Colmore Business District carries high-rise offices, Brindleyplace and Centenary Square carry landmark mixed-use schemes, the Bullring carries large-format retail, and the surrounding conurbation carries an extensive industrial and logistics estate.
Those buildings share the features that make conventional access awkward: height, restricted ground-level footprints, busy pedestrian and vehicle movement, and glazing and cladding systems that need specialist knowledge to repair correctly.
Rope access needs anchor points rather than ground infrastructure. It can be mobilised quickly and deployed on a live building with little impact on occupiers or the street. For a reactive job such as an emergency glass make-safe, that speed is the whole point.

If your building sits outside this list, ask. GLRE operates nationwide and mobilises from its Birmingham, Manchester, London, Newcastle and Glasgow bases.
Every project starts with a site survey carried out by an IRATA Level 3 supervisor or an experienced project manager. The survey establishes the access requirement, identifies the existing anchor system or confirms where anchors need installing, and provides the basis for the risk assessment and method statement.
Once the scope is confirmed, the proposal covers programme, access methodology and price. On site, all work runs under the direct supervision of a Level 3 supervisor who inspects rigs, lines and equipment at the start of every shift and after every break or rig change.
On an emergency attendance the supervisor assesses the building and rigs on arrival, so reactive work can begin without waiting for a separate survey visit. The competence framework behind all of it is set by IRATA International, which certifies rope access technicians at Levels 1, 2 and 3.
The technicians are glazing specialists as well as rope access operatives. They are trained and experienced in glazing repair, sealant application, glass replacement and building envelope maintenance, so one team completes the full scope on a single mobilisation rather than providing access for another trade to follow.
That matters for programme length and for co-ordination. It means one method statement, one rig, one set of exclusion zones and one point of responsibility.
Nearly 30 years of rope access work, with named projects on the completed projects page: Alexandra Palace, Hull Royal Infirmary, Center Parcs and Mander Shopping Centre. Ask for the one closest to your own building type.
Describe the requirement and a free site survey is arranged at a time that suits the building. The proposal that follows covers scope, method, programme and price, written from what the survey found rather than from a description.
